hopeless Romantic

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale! As a hopeless romantic at heart, I still believe in fairytales... where dancing, magic carpets and romantic kisses happen magically in the moonlight. Where every princess finds her prince, Kate Middleton is a perfect example.  All fairytales take time, so there is no need to rush from one frog to another. Just keep believing that you will find your Prince Charming because the happy ending only happen on the last page.

 

Love is perseverance, it is unconditional and timeless... As a modern woman having patience doesn't mean you have to wait around for magic, make your own and make the first move. Jane from Tarzan, is a clear example of how sometimes it is necessary to make the first move. If it is Prince Charming that you are looking for, it is important to remember that everyone has imperfections. Love is finding those imperfections to be perfection. Every day a fairytale can be made, where REAL MEN...

Vogue at just 17! The cover girl can be described as sleek and chic in Miss Vogue Australia, a new feature of Vogue Australia. I believe beauty should be appreciated and  Kendall embodies the style of Miss Vogue, with a fusion of high fashion and street style. I feel a little obsessed with this breathtaking beauty style. The Kardashian family, seems to feel the same with Kourtney K tweeted, "I AM OBSESSED WITH YOU KENDALL! WOW. Breathtaking." Kim K blogging, "Can't get over how incredible Kendall looks in this month's Miss Vogue magazine in Australia!!" and "Kendall's legs... I'm jealous!" Jenner shows off her lovely long legs, in a pair of black hot pants, leather jacket and a velvet shirt (below). She is ready for any catwalk, I can understand why Kim has  a bit of jealousy for her little sister.

Jenner is not just the Kardashians little sister, she is the face of White Sands swimsuit line, FLAVOR magazine and has covered Teen Vogue with her younger sister, Kylie. She has also been on the runway at Fashion Week for designer Sherri Hill.Kendall posed below in a timeless, black sheer hat, backless long-sleeved black midi-dress and striking black heeled shoes, embodying the classic and elegant Vogue woman. I am sure this is just the beginning so watch out world here she comes....

The KING of Burgers

I am not sure if you've noticed the increase in MacDonald's stores all around Cape Town, they are popping up all over the place- maybe it is to assert their presence after news that the worlds second- largest FAST food chain is opening next year. The legendary brand, has been around since 1953 and  I hope Cape Town are ready to welcome, the first BURGER KING outlet in Africa, it has been long overdue. 

If you have not had the opportunity to travel or have sat at an international airport in transit and not eatn Burger KING you have missed out. I will be the first to say goodbye to the familiar JUNK food that should have been put on the MUST NOT HAVE list, with BURGER KING as my exception, I am sure many will follow. According to Hassen Adams, the executive chairman of GPI, "the introduction of Burger King to South Africa will bring much needed new jobs, careers for our people and help in reducing the high unemployment rate." CAPE TOWN I hope you are ready for BURGER KING's legendary Whopper hamburger, I can't wait. I have always been a BURGER and fries kinda girl - so I have decided to factor in that extra mile because I want to enjoy their delicious burgers without any feeling any guilt...

Today I...

 I have been feeling a bit stressed about work and life lately with endless meetings. I guess it is the usual stress that comes from freelancing from one production to the next...  

I am not one for silence and usually I would agree that a quiet woman, could be very dangerous when left alone with her thoughts...but when I have time for myself in between productions silence feels like bliss, an opportunity to just be. This morning I smiled when I saw the picture below because it describes exactly how I feel sometimes when I get caught up in the rush WE call WORK! 

I am sure most people feel the same- when you have not had an opportunity to breath. Enough of the stress- its time to focus on the good life, and as things are finally falling into place- remember to embrace the good and sever the bad.

Good Morning Cape Town

I thought it would best to wake up with a smile and enjoy some Cape Town funny! The VOICE and Son, are known for their nude ladies on page number... Usually I would move quickly pass this page but sometimes we have to just embrace the funny in a situation. Nudity makes some people feel awkward and shy, while others feel right at home. In a place like Cape Town, where topless tanning is the norm, not only negative connotations can be taken from the over sized sleeper shirt, with its juxtaposed naked lady taking the mickey out of some of Cape Towns well- known newspapers. 

So I hope this makes you smile this morning, and if your not very comfy being naked, you can create the illusion of that comfort- shocking some people as you join the breakfast table with the above sleeper shirt.

FASHION GUILT

I  forbid myself from blogging until the end of exams, but I thought it would be okay just this once. I need to confess that I am guilty of loving track pants, especially during exams! If it was a crime, I would be punished for finding comfort in track pants, they have become my staple for the next 3 weeks. Is it really still a crime, considering how informal trousers have hit the streets, as a fashion necessity and NO longer just comfort...

Track pants in silk, linen and cotton are being dressed up, with tailored blazers, shirts, statement  jewellery and  high heels. Racing stripes clearly have more then one function, then merely being on a racing track. Dressing up track pants  has become so trendy, that it has surpassed it function of ordinary running gear.

The track pants trend is no longer only a street style, promoted by sport brands like Adidas but has become a favourite on the runway by designers, like Prada. Prada's latest collection's promotes the track pants trend, with Sasha Pivovarova's, wearing metallic platforms and the striped pants with more then a little sparkle. It adds a sporty edge, which can be seen below in their new ad campaign.

Another brand, Juicy Couture is known for their comfy tracksuits. Their spring 2012 collection, is in line with dressing up track pants trend. They sport a more casual trend, the every day girl would be able to capture this look more easily, then the PRADA one above. They have just added a few accessories, with pops of colours to dress up the informal pants.

For a more formal look, add a cropped blazer and heels, with slim fitting track pants to give a tuxedo like appearance(below left). The pants can be rolled under at the ankle to give the illusion of tailoring.

I <3 Stella McCartneys Slouchy fine-knit wool track pants (above right).  I think this is definitely my favourite way to wear track pants, the sporty cuffed pants are  slim-fitting, with the basic layering. Another favourite of mine would be the ADIDAS brands collection, if its not bright track pants, its small details like a button or zip, that make their track pants that much extraordinary...

The track pants revival might terrify some, as the image of slouchy, not for wearing out dressing comes to mind. The trend makes me feel less guilty in exam mode, because its a clear indication of how the right amount of attention to detail and a bit of sparkle, can turn slacks into a fashion must have. I think i know just how to improve my track pants collection, heels might not be appropriate for exam mode but juxtaposing other dressy items can change up casual wear. 

Feeling inspired and no longer guilty about finding comfort in my track pants loving....
